The Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology (ICMB), provides a support base for the Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB), and Microbiology Graduate Programs. Our graduate programs provide a highly interactive, supportive environment with excellent opportunities to participate in cutting edge biological and biomedical research. We offer a uniquely broad and multidisciplinary graduate education, bringing together faculty from numerous academic departments. These dynamic programs unite over 150 members of the UT faculty with interests in some aspect of biochemistry, cell or molecular biology or microbiology, and with whom students may pursue their doctoral research. This is also a very exciting time for biomedical sciences at The University of Texas at Austin. The Dell Medical School will open in 2016, and it is expected to add at least 30 additional cell and molecular biology faculty. Our philosophy is to broadly and flexibly train students in preparation for diverse careers in biological/biomedical research in academia, industry or government, university teaching, public policy, and other scholarly pursuits, and to provide financial support to our students for the duration of their graduate education.
